What is covered with a comprehensive craft fair event insurance policy?

Whether you are crafting jewellery, wooden items, textiles, flowers or food, or organising the event, it is important to protect yourself against the public. Our comprehensive craft fair insurance policy will give you the peace of mind to concentrate on the crafts and interacting with the public without worrying about the financial implications of any accidents that may occur. You worry about the crafts, we’ll worry about the cover.

Public liability insurance

Public liability insurance covers you for any accidental bodily injury to a member of the public, as well as cover for accidental damage to third party property proven to be a result of your negligence in connection with your craft fair or craft stall.

Our craft fair insurance policies also cover:

Craft fair employers liability insurance

Employers liability covers you for any legal liability to pay damages, claimants costs and expenses which arise as a result of injury to any of your employees at the craft fair, including volunteers.

Craft fair event equipment

This part of the policy covers you against any loss, theft or accidental damage to hired, leased or owned event equipment that you are responsible for, from the crafts you sell to the market stall setup.

Craft fair cancellation insurance

Should you need to cancel your craft fair, we can cover you for any irrecoverable costs associated with the unavoidable cancellation, abandonment or postponement of your craft fair.

Why do you need public liability insurance to organise craft fairs or to sell crafts?

Accidents can happen, especially when dealing with members of the public, and should a member of the public trip over your stock or injure themselves in any way connected to your craft fair or stall, your business can be held liable for compensation.

This is why it is essential to get protection. Our public liability insurance for craft fair organisers and craft stallholders covers you against any liability or claims made by the public in connection with your craft fair.

I'm a craft organiser, how much will it cost to insure the event?

Our craft fair insurance premiums start from as little as £69.

We also provide cover for a wide variety of other events, such as art shows, street parties and exhibitions.

Craft Fair Insurance FAQs

Do I need insurance to sell at craft fairs?

There are a range of products that are sold through craft fairs. Whether it be a candle, wax melts or bath products; if you are selling products to the public as a stallholder, it is important that you are covered. Without proper insurance, you could be left with a sizeable legal bill if something goes wrong.

It is also worth nothing that most fair organisers will request proof that you have an insurance policy in place before allowing you to sell at their craft fair. Employers liability insurance is a legal requirement if you have any employees accompanying you at the craft fair who are not family members or contractors.

Do I need public liability insurance for a craft fair?

While public liability insurance is not a legal requirement at craft fairs, it is highly recommended and some craft fair event organisers will want to see evidence of craft stall owners' public liability insurance policies. Hopefully, you won’t ever need to claim on your public liability insurance policy, but you’ll be glad it’s there if you do need it as claims for injuring a member of the public can be very costly.

“My event starts tomorrow, can I take out a craft fair public liability insurance cover?”

Good news, if you have an event that commences the next day we can still provide cover. Even for larger covers, we aim to get your insurance sorted within 24 hours. For most cases, the turnaround time will be much quicker than this.

The only exception is for customers buying a policy on a Saturday for an event on Sunday. In this scenario you'll need to make the purchase online. Regrettably, this is the only way we can ensure last-minute coverage for events that fall on a Sunday.

What can I do to speed up the process?

To ensure that the process is as quick as possible, we suggest purchasing your policy online. It may also save time during the application process if you know the covers, levels of coverage and attendance limits for your craft fair.

What documents will you receive?
