All over the world, same sex marriage is and has always been a political, social, human rights and civil rights issue, as well as a religious issue.
Debates continue to arise over the legalisation of marriage amongst couples of the same sex. As of June 2014, parliament passed law and the UK joined 15 other countries allowing same sex couples to marry.
Whilst civil partnerships have been legal in the UK since 2005, the recent passing of same sex marriage means that couples of the same sex are offered a lot more of the same rights as heterosexual couples when legally wed.
Responding to enquiries
Due to this new legislation for same sex marriages in the UK, we started to see a build up of enquires on a daily basis. With already offering a civil partnership policy, we wanted to move with the times and offer our brokers & potential clients the choice of a same sex wedding policy as well as a civil partnership policy.
We have made subtle changes to our same sex marriage proposal form and wording, to fall in line with the clients legal requirements. Externally, the cover shows two wedding bands and the description inside states the partner’s name, rather than the bride and grooms name.
Due to an imminent major overhaul of the website, this policy isn’t available on line just yet, but is available upon request. We can offer you all the necessary information and help with any queries you may have, just give us a call or drop us an email.
We embrace the opportunity to offer a policy which doesn’t discriminate.
